Barry Says Suns an Attractive Team for Players

The Suns have remade their roster through a variety of trades over the past year.

At least one national pundit thinks game-changing players will start coming to Phoenix voluntarily in the near future.

ESPN analyst Jon Barry was on the Doug and Wolf show (Arizona Sports 98.7 FM) yesterday and affirmed that Phoenix, which boasts fine weather, a pair of point guards and Coach of the Year candidate in Jeff Hornacek, could very well be an attractive destination for upper-tier free agents this summer and beyond.

"Guys around the league talk and say 'man, this guy's fun to play for.' He lets them play, they play a style that's fun, they get up and down the floor. You have two point guards -- (Eric) Bledsoe and (Goran) Dragic that are exciting and fun to play with. It's an exciting brand of basketball."

Suns General Manager Ryan McDonough has made no secret of his aim to bring more talent – specifically star-caliber players – to Phoenix in order to further complete the team’s revitalized status in the Western Conference.

Already the team has surpassed last season’s win total and is in the playoff picture heading into Tuesday night’s game against the Timberwolves.

Barry had no shortage of praise for the Suns’ turnaround.

"To me, it's the story of the year. To come from where they were last year, and we were on all the time and we made fun of 'hey, I'll see you guys in three or four years when they get this thing turned around,' and boom, they've done it already. It's only going to get better this offseason.”
