HEAT Holiday Hospital Visits - 2013
Miami - The Miami HEAT made the holiday season brighter for patients at the children’s ward of local hospitals. The HEAT teamed up with presenting partner FedEx and supporting partner Sun Sports to host the HEAT Holiday Hospital Visit at Baptist Children’s Hospital and Holtz Children’s Hospital at UM/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. Players and members of The HEAT Experience distributed toys and other gifts collected from the HEAT Group Toy Drive including gift cards courtesy of Papa John’s, caps from New Era and vouchers for complimentary McDonald’s products. One half of the team visited Baptist Children’s Hospital which is the Official Hospital of the Miami HEAT.
“Us just being here, being able to put a smile on their faces, it's a great thing," said HEAT forward Chris Bosh, who was part of the Baptist visit.
The other half of the ream visited Holtz Children’s Hospital at UM/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. The connection with Holtz Children’s Hospital is a long-standing one, culminating in the existing Miami HEAT Home Court for Kids Wing as well as the Carnival Cares for Kids Center. “It was like watching him on TV, but he’s really here now” said Aaron Willis, patient at Holtz Children’s.
“For us to be able to come here for a few hours and put a smile on their face to give them gifts and give them a merry Christmas that they won't forget, I think it's special," Lebron James said after his visit with the children at Holtz.
Also in attendance we’re HEAT mascot Burnie, HEAT Dancers, and the Fox Sports Florida Girls.
